8 tips for a successful Schengen visa search
It may not be as easy as it seems to get a Schengen visa. Here are 8 tips to help you go through the visa application process.
1. You can only apply for a Schengen visa in the United Kingdom if you have one of the following visa types in the United Kingdom: spouse, single (valid for at least one year), ancestral visa, work travel visa ( usually valid for 2 years), Level 1 (HSMP), Level 2, Level 3, Level 4 (student visa), work permit (valid from 2 to 4 years), limited license to remain in the United Kingdom, unlimited license to remain in the United Kingdom (ILR). If you come to the UK with a visitor visa (which is normally valid for 6 months), you must apply for a Schengen visa in your HOME.
2. Before you book your trip, make sure your visa to the UK is valid for at least 3 months after returning from your trip from a Schengen country.
3. For most Schengen visas, you can submit an application within 3 months of the date of your travel. It is recommended to submit your application at least two weeks before your journey begins, but for some nationalities, it may take between 3 and 4 weeks to process the visa application.
4. Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the visa expiration date and must contain two blank pages for visa stamps. To obtain a multiple-entry visa, your passport must be valid for at least one year or more from the end date of your trip.
5. If your passport was issued 10 years ago, you will need a new passport to apply for a Schengen visa. If your passport is issued within a year, give your previous passport the current passport.
6. For most Schengen visas you can only apply when you have been in the UK for at least one month, but if you need to get a Schengen visa for Spain, you must wait 6 months before you can submit your first application.
7. Book an appointment with the relative consulate or visa application center well in advance. In the summer or before the holidays you can spend a month waiting for a vacancy.
8. Proper documentation is the key to a successful visa application. You must bring your passport (s) with a valid UK visa stamped inside your passport, photos, visa application form, employment letter (or other form of employment confirmation), payment receipts, bank statements, hotel confirmation, flight confirmation and secure travel.
